The Member Care Deacon coordinates the resources necessary to meet the physical needs of our church family including food, transportation and other support needs as they become apparent.
Born in New Jersey, after graduating from high school, Bill moved to Louisiana and then on to California in 1958. Raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, he left the church in 1963 to live his own life independent of God, or so he thought. A life changing event in 1970 brought him to a very low point, and two friends who had been talking with him about Christ prayed with him. God’s Spirit moved in Bill’s heart, and he was saved. Suddenly, he couldn’t learn enough about the love of Jesus Christ as He read God’s words of grace in his Bible. It wasn’t long after that God led him to Barbara, and they married in 1973.
He and Barbara were led to Christian Family Fellowship in early 2014 and have found a rich and wonderful church home. Believing that every Christian has a gift to be shared in building God’s kingdom, Bill has served in several churches in the role of shepherd, elder, and on a pastor’s council. As our deacon for member care, Bill coordinates the activities of this ministry including the church’s food pantry, crisis support meals, transportation, auto repair, moving help and member recognition.
Since coming to CFF, Bill has learned beyond a doubt that he has been saved by grace through faith in Christ. His favorite verse, Ephesians 2:8-9 states that clearly: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Along with studying the Word, Bill enjoys gardening, woodcarving, pyrography and other forms of woodworking. He also enjoys playing the ukulele. He always has a song in his heart or on his lips. His current passion is to grow as many cultivars of fig trees as he can find.
